What is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a general term used to describe any type of therapy that utilizes changes in the breathing pattern to improve the mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Both therapeutically and as a path of spiritual awakening, Breathwork has been used in ancient traditions for thousands of years to facilitate self discovery, alter consciousness, healing and transformation.

Today there are a variety of styles of Breathwork being used in the West.  As your facilitator, I pull in the styles of Breathwork that match your desired outcome.

Who can Breathwork benefit?

Anyone wanting to connect more deeply to their intuition, release past trauma stored in the body and calm the sympathetic nervous system.   Breathwork allows the body to heal physically, emotionally, and spiritually – so anyone who feels stressed and needing a reset is an excellent candidate.

What types of Breathwork do you facilitate?

  • Relaxation Breathing: may include a combination of cleansing breaths,  alternate nostril breathing, patterned breathing, Ujayii breathing and mantra to bring a deep sense of grounding and calm.
  • Awareness Breathing: provides an anchor for the mind while observing the breath very closely as it moves through various parts of the body.
  • Yogic Breathing: is placing the tip of the tongue against the ridge behind the front teeth and breathing in for a count of 4, holding for a count of 7, and exhaling for a count of 8.  This placement of the tongue maintains a constant flow of energetic current running through the body and can have a very calming effect on an anxious mind.
  • Connected Breathing: is continuous breathing in through the nose and out of the mouth continuously to quickly access more energy and inner guidance.  This breathwork is a powerful way to access a non-ordinary state of consciousness, where inner guidance flows and the practical steps to take in your life become crystal clear.
  • Holotropic Breathing: is continuous breathing in through the mouth and out through the mouth without stopping for minutes to hours producing an altered state of consciousness that often leads to emotional release, healing and personal growth.

I am a certified yoga teacher with over 200 hours of training in Prana Vinyasa Yoga and have been facilitating breathwork for individuals and groups for over ten years.
